Artist Statement
Alice Lipping is a New York–based painter whose work explores color, texture, and movement through intuitive abstraction. Inspired by the urban landscape and its constant rhythm, her paintings balance spontaneity and structure, reflecting moments of chaos, calm, and transition. Through layered compositions and expressive mark-making, each piece evolves organically, guided by process rather than pre-determined outcomes.
Lipping’s practice emphasizes experimentation and material play, allowing emotion, memory, and physical gesture to shape the final work. Whether in the studio or through community-driven exhibitions, her approach invites both viewers and participants to engage with abstraction as an open, expressive, and personal experience.
